Paid Prayers tickets to heaven?
Death of a person
When a person dies, the relatives left behind grieve.
While grieving, they pray for their departed.
The problem is:
They don't know HOW to pray for their dead relative.
They don't know WHAT to pray.
Is there a prayer format?
Well, I really don't know.
Solution, anyone?
Catholics hire prayer warriors to pray for their dead relatives.
In the province, when I was young, I vividly remember that my family went to the cemetery during UNDAS.
My relatives didn't know what to pray and how to pray.
So they hired a prayer warrior to pray for our deceased loved ones.
How much were they paying?
Ahhh, P50.00 for one (1) soul.
That was in the 70s.
I was just wondering if the prayers of the prayer warrior reached heaven.
Why?
She mumbled the prayers very fast like a bullet train in Japan.
Or like a speeding bus in SLEX, 100/kph.
She has to do this because there were still long list of souls needed to be prayed for.
Good business, indeed.
Another practice of the Catholics during UNDAS
You will be given an envelope and you have to list down the names of your departed loved ones.
Put your donation inside and the priest will say a prayer.
I'm just wondering if all the names listed therein be mentioned one by one.
That's a hassle for the priest.
I believe the prayers are in general.
There are questions that bother me.
Will the paid prayers of a priest reach heaven?
Are paid prayers really effective?
What if we just say simple prayers for our dear departed that come from our hearts?
Any prayer format?
Again, I really don't know if paid prayers are effective.
You wanted to know my personal practice?
Secret......I'll keep it to myself.
But, I will reveal my prayer secret if you really wanted to know.
Some more proddings please.
Okay okay, you win.
Ahh, I just say "hello". "How are you UP there?"
I don't want to say: "How are you DOWN there?"
I have goosebumps. Lol
And, I pray the Lord's Prayer. That's it.
Make your prayer simple.
I was once a member of a charismatic group.
Our leaders used to tell us that nobody could save the souls of the departed no matter how much we pray for their souls.
It was further explained that we have to do good deeds while still alive.
No amount of prayers could save the souls of the departed.
Probably, I have to open my Bible again and start reading.
Start looking for that verse.
That's why I just say HI! to my beloved departed.
How about you?
What's your practice?
Please share your comments, practice, and thoughts about this.
